Faithful America Relaunches “False Prophets Don’t Speak for Me” Campaign, Naming Religious-Right Leaders Hijacking Christianity for Power
Faithful America is relaunching its “False Prophets Don’t Speak for Me” campaign today, kicking off its fourth annual effort to expose religious-right leaders who twist the Gospel to promote hatred, division, and political power.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 1, 2026 — Faithful America is relaunching its “False Prophets Don’t Speak for Me” campaign today, kicking off its fourth annual effort to expose religious-right leaders who twist the Gospel to promote hatred, division, and political power.
For four years, Faithful America has used the campaign to publicly name pastors, politicians, and other influential figures who claim to speak for Christianity while advancing agendas that run counter to the faith’s call to love our neighbors, welcome the stranger, pursue justice, and care for the vulnerable.
And this year, we’re naming names again.
Beginning this week and continuing throughout the fall, Faithful America will unveil another religious-right leader from the 2026 False Prophets list—calling attention to the ways they are using Christian language and authority to advance Christian nationalism, undermine their neighbors, and seize political power.
Previous False Prophets have included household names such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, evangelist Franklin Graham, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and self-proclaimed prophet Julie Green. Through the campaign, Faithful America has brought these leaders’ rhetoric and actions to the attention of reporters, denominational leaders, and hundreds of thousands of Christians who reject the idea that these figures speak for their faith.
This year’s list is no less consequential.
Among the leaders being named is** Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth**, who has used the Pentagon as a platform for holy-war rhetoric and Crusades imagery.
The list also includes Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who has pushed public schools toward mandated prayer and Bible reading while attacking his political opponent—a Presbyterian minister—as insufficiently Christian.
And Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin, whose ties to a far-right network of so-called “elders” reflect a movement claiming a mandate to govern American cities in the name of God, is also on the list.
But they’re only the beginning.
This fall, Faithful America will continue exposing the leaders who would have Christians believe that hatred is holy, political power is sacred, and their version of Christianity is the only legitimate one.
Because false prophets don’t speak for us. And they don’t speak for Christianity.
